Default Do your brakes feel different in the recent cold spell?

Front brakes losing progressive feel in the cold... Is this something to do with the cold weather of late???

Std set-up (tiny vented fronts, regular Vxl pads - originals at 28.5k) - these past few v cold days I've noticed that the brake pedal is feeling 'numb' on application - it starts slowing okay but takes a bit longer for the car to pull up and I find I'm applying a bit more size 11 than I have of late, especially after hooning it back up the A1/A194 and actually wanting to stop at the roundabout at the A184 end...

Is this just very cold pads, (in which case is anyone else noticing similar) or a sign of wear (when does the pad wear indicator kick in?), or are there darker forces at work?

The new rear pads have just finished bedding in properly (after 'only' 1500 miles, the full face of the disks are shiny again). I don't think that this has anything to do with it though. I've noticed they're sticking slightly on first release after parked up overnight - they give a quiet bang when rolling forward, but release much more quietly when reversing away, a bit like the old Cav drums used to do when the dust built up a bit.

Sounds relatively normal to me, as for the sticking first thing, hot disk damp conditions last drive. I now only apply enough handbrake to hold the car & not a real tug. As long as you stop ok keep an eye on it would be my thoughts...

Hmm - maybe I'll pop the wheels off this weekend and check things out then - they were better today, but it is a lot drier in the air so it could have been a weather thing - it felt like I'd fitted harder pads, so it could be a sign of wear (the fronts have been working a bit harder for the last 1.5k as the rears have sorted themselves).
