Default I know this is a stupid question really....

But just supposing I wanted to extract a few more ponies and Nm of torque from our car.... I know I know - much more and the front end wont put it down too well - but isnt that ESP and TC is for?

    Y30Dt Signum
    K&N panel filter
    Derestricted airbox
    PBox fitted

I could call up Courtenays but that usually instantly results in my wallet being opened and coins extracted!

My thoughts at the moment is for

a free flowing rear exhaust - but that would probably have minimal gain

Petrol turbos have an intercooler (for the turbo??) - but I dont think the turbo runs too hot to make a difference compared to the weight of the unit installed

Hybrid turbo - I'm looking in to this one.

One aspect is that colder air combusts better due to higher oxygen levels - but this is controlled by the common rail which compensates by adjusting the fuel accordingly (or so I believe) - so would colder air result in less fuel use or better combustion?? Either way - an air intercooler could work well due to the space spare at the front end of the signum.

Would an oil cooler have any effect? - I think this falls in to the same category as the Petrol turbo intercooler.

Any suggestions - other than a lunatic asylum - greatly appreciated.

How are you at your present 229bhp mate? Give us a an idea how go from there.

Intercooler is a good idea. Colder air the better.

Oil cooler won't unless you go big turbo and track it hard.

At 229 - I can get the traction down - minimal assistance from the traction control and with no evidence of torque steer thanks to the powerful PAS, Only in the wet can you feel a little hesitance in traction in some gears.

As mentioned the mods so far are....

    K&N panel filter
    Derestricted airbox
    PBox fitted

If you want to go higher than 229, you prob need a bigger turbo.
And if you go that way, a new exhaust-system could
also be something to think about.

Kitchpoo me old m8 you will find that your car already has an intercooler and an oil cooler so one way to go is to upgrade the intercooler to a larger item but wait for it i would hazzard a guess at this costing about a £1000 minimum one other option is to get hold of a Demon Tweeks catalogue and look up there cryo system its a system that sprays onto the intercooler to make the air inside a lot cooler so making it denser

Or you could of course just go for the old Nitros system with 100 BHP jets on you car it would produce about another 75BHP all for about £500 fitted !!!!!!

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

y'know - I really should look under the bonnet more - cant see a thing under there other than the rad, aircon rad and fans at the front end - the oil cooler must be well hidden too.

All will become clear when I drop the bumper off to do some small modifications.

I might have a look to see if any parts could be common - the 9ltr intercooler is meant to be good - and might be direct fit - you never know.

what about a charge cooler instead of a larger intercooler?

also - what about different cams?

just other ideas to throw into the fold.
