Thought there was a recession, country going to the dogs, people getting evicted, people losing jobs, savings not safe, banks going bust, car demand through the floor, 4 day weeks, 4 month breaks.

What do Ford and Vauxhall do ........

Put the price of new cars up

I have heard of other "firms or services" putting up their prices. To me all they will do is price themselves out of the market.

BUT, who actually pays list price anyway? A bit meaningless in reality, as it's the final price that is important, not the notional list price.

The weakness of the pound against the euro, yes. Most of the cars are either built on the continent or use parts from there; explains it better in the article.

Well ... my theory goes like this ....

The people who pay list price for cars are:

Company Drivers .... therefore bleeding more money from hard up firms.
Older People .... My aunt only buys brand new, even though I tell her time and time again that she may as well pour £5K down the drain or throw it in the bin.

No one can afford... they sell even less .... more people out of work ...

When I was a young lad, I thought that when money was tough - the bank of england just printed more money .... how right I was eahh
