I doubt it! People then were not soft pu*sies like they are today. Few had cars, and most people then would walk many miles through thick snow to get to work. Missed work for 2 consecutive days without a damm good reason and you would find yourself in court.

Years ago one would often wake up to 2 feet of snow almost every winter, and snow drifts of several feet high were common place in country area's. I still remember the winter of 1947 when packed snow and ice was still to be found on many high streets for many months.

One of the biggest problems today is many people just dont know how to drive in the snow, especially the younger generation.

i used to commute to work on a moped or motorcycle, later a car and never had any traffic problems like today, only one day did i actualy fail to ride a bike to work, and that was because of snow drifts and the temperature was too cold so the bike wouldnt run properly,so i had to walk to work.traffic in rush hour moved freely with no grid lock, the reason why we have problems is not due to the amount of cars on the road but because most people cannot drive properly in snow, with more cars on the road roads should be clearer of snow as when i started riding bikes the roads were clear at 715am,not a single vehicle had used the road that day, nowadays the road will be clearer as the roads will be gritted in most cases and the moving traffic will have helped to clear that road
