F40 '5' Speed?

Yep, my car on Thursday decided it did'nt want 3rd gear anymore and spat it's dummy out!

So when you are stationary and put it in 3rd gear, then release the clutch, nothing happens! So into the dealer on Friday and they diagnosed officially that it is knackered and a call to Vauxhall and a new gearbox was authorised!

That arrived today and at this moment in time, my car is without a gearbox!

Should be picking it up tomorrow evening, they are going to check the DMF as I think it is sloppy and I have bought a new clutch to be fitted. OK a clutch at 26000 miles should be OK, but I think it is good practice to put a new one in if the box is out.

My first Vectra C/Signum problem! Thats after 2 Vectra C 1.9 150's, a Signum V6 Eilte CDTi and this 1.9 150.

At least it will be all ready tomorrow!

Blimey! So what was it you were saying about never having a problem with any 1.9 you've had?!

Hopefully not the first of any other issues to rear it's head!

Technically, I still havent had a problem with a 1.9

As I bought the car as an ex demo with 20500 miles on it, you don't know how it's been driven. Everything was fine, when I say fine, the gearbox did not have as good a gear change as my last 3 F40 gearbox's, it just when very stiff getting it into 3rd then a noise and nothing!

If the DMF is out of spec and gets replaced and along with the new clutch I will buy, at least I will have full confidence in the drivetrain as it will all be new!

I would leave it in there a couple more days while the white stuff is about, don't want you bumping into things or them doing it to you.

I did think of that, but fortunatly I am working from home for the next 2-3 days so it can stay home safe on the drive!

Thanks Steve, all being well a quick turn around is happening! I suppose after 2 Veccy C's and 2 Signums, I should have at least one problem!

But as for Vauxhall and their responce, they rock! No hassle at all.

maverick, i think mine might be going the same way? dont know if its the 'F40' gearbox as i have the 2.0T.
did yours seem to go abit 'crunchie' into 3rd? as this is what mine is doing, took it back to the stealers and they said it was normal, but it didnt do it when i got it!

any sugestions?

Its the same box as yours but with a different final drive and different ratios. Mine started crunching going into third.

A dealer should no better than to say it's normal as it clearly isnt. This is my 4th F40 so have got used to what they should be like!
