    Default Engine temperature

hi, wondering can any1 help me out, my car (02 2.2 non direct) has been running warm over the past few weeks, temp used to sit bang on 90 (12 oclock on the gauge), now it sits bout 92 r 93 up2 95 when sittin r drivin slow. as a result the fans nearly always running.

This problem arose last year but then disapeared, back again?? other weird thng was that i stopped to talk to my mate few wks ago, car was parked on a hill at an angle, temp went down to 90, fans never came on?? few hours later sittin outside the girlfriends, temp 93/4, fans running (flat ground)

the reason am asking is that 1) i dont want the engine overheating an cookin itself, 2) before this the fans very rarly came on, even in traffic.

    any help will be great

    many thanks
    gareth

Big Sig is correct, just replaced mine in a 1.8 and runs right on 87 even last night down the M20 in blinding snow with an outside temp of -2. On the 2.2 petrol the thermostat is located on the left hand rear of the cylinder head over the transmission. On 2.2 diesel it is located on the front right hand end of the cylinder head and is integral with the housing, or so the Hayes states!!!
