    Default Sky + box

Bit of advise please , ive got the chance of a sky + box for a really good price , do they just plug in i.e connection of LNB , HDMI lead and off you go or is it more involved , to you have to tell Sky and they want ££ of you ??

You will need to phone up sky and they will charge a subscription fee for sky+. You cant just use it as a pvr without paying the monthly subscription

Also an HDMI lead is no use for normal Sky+ you need the special HD Sky+ box and if you don't tell them it is as much use as a chocolate tea spoon as you noromal Sky card won't work it. You also need a dual LNB they fit a 4 channel so that you can record 1 channel whilst watching another. If you have the full package there is no charge for Sky+ only for HD which is £10 extra a month.

sky + wont record without the 2 inputs so you will need sky to come out and install sky+ for £30 and not pay for a box as you have one.

my sky account finished 2 years ago but the card still gave me free view channels

You will need a twin input LNB and 2 cables from the box to the dish, then you need to ring sky and say please activate the Sky+ on my package and they will, no charge.

If any of you guys have been charged then you've been had. Thats only if you installed it yourself of course.

Right then Steve to condense all the above
1 If you've already got a sky subsciption then sky+ is a free upgrade
2 You'll need a dual LNB, this can be bought of ebay for a few pounds and you can fit it yourself, then you just run your two cables into your box
3 When you've done the above you just ring sky and ask them to pair your new box to your existing card

    Hope this helps
