Hi
Firstly I have to appologise for my outburst early this morning and thx for deleting the other post, I had been on the lash at the time for an extended session as monday/tuesday is my weekend so to speak.
Secondly it was about MPG that caused it, so you can breath again Capri, it wasn't you at all, lol.
Thirdly I did get the belt thing wrong and was big enough to admit it in other posts , but as others have said some Vectra C's do have the belt drive engine in them.
Forthly I didn't really mean ppl shouldn't try to help others, but outright known lies like MPG posts can cost someone a lot of money once they buy a car that ppl have stated does way more to the gallon than is actually attainable, so in future if I post figures take them as minimums that you will get from a car, but as I've said before my MPG gets no real better when the car is being used as a car like usual
Sure on the M4 every morning going from Swindon to London with 10-20 miles urban will give a figure near 40mpg, but if you want a really accurate figure this is the formula
1st - Fill the tank to 1st click plus 50p and reset all trips on the screen
2nd - Start with a cold engine
3rd - Use 3/4 of the tank up
4th - Go to the same pump as before and fill as described above
5th - Devide the fuel used by £4.13p
6th - Take the gallons used figure and devide the miles done by it
7th - If you have left the trips alone all through the test it will show for example average mpg 42mpg, that figure should be within 2-3 miles of the actual result
8th - This way you get a mixed figure allowing for the weight reduction in the tank as it empties and any frothing in the tank as well when you fill up.
Once again I'm sorry to have caused anyone any grief with this mornings outburst, but it cost me a fortune some eight yrs ago, when listening to a liar I bought a 2.5 V6 auto on the strength of another cabbie who had a Cavalier V6 which did 28mpg in the town, funny how my Omega could only muster 17 - 18 tops wasn't it.
£5500 was my fuel bill that year, if it had done what he said it should have been £3500, so I ended up £4500 out over the three yrs I owned it all thx to someone who had already fallen down the hole and instead of warning ppl it was a slurper, he actually went the way of come fall in the hole too.
