Post 1.9CDTi 150 Swirl Valve Advice Needed...

Over the past couple of weeks, my car has started to reduce in power (certainly below 2K revs) when this week it struggled to get up a steep hill in 1st gear - I immediately though EGR, to which I have checked/cleaned (wasn't bad at all TBH) but I have now noticed that my swirl valve rod has "fallen off" and its just sat there rattling about, from looking through this forum it would seem the likely candidate to my issues.

My question is, what is the next course of action, as I use my car for work every day, I need to fully fix this (rather than a temporary fix) so what's needed, can it just be put back on, or do I need a new inlet manifold or something else.

    Any/all advice is much appreciated.

    Hi Dan

I have recently had the exact same problem. Took mine to Vx with one day left on my warranty and got it fixed. They replaced the inlet manifold completely so this would be the best line of attack. Not sure how much one would be as mine was covered... just!
    Hope this help

Yes there is a modded one, now fitted to my car, you can see the difference when you look carefully at the top of the swirl valves. The old one just had plastic ends visible, on the new one it has the plastic ends fixed to a metal spindle so it can't wear out as easily. If you car has a Diesel particulate filter fitted check this out also. If its showing a high pressure differential on the vauxhall diagnostic computer it will need regenerating or worse still may need replacing. It costs a fortune. I fixed the inlet manifold and egr on mine only to find that the DPF was completely blocked and the exhaust blew apart at the first joint. Best to get it all checked before you start spending cash.

Thankfully no DPF on my car.

Of the three common faults (EGR, Injector no. 3 and Swirls) all have been done except swirls and now today noticed the swirl rod had come off.
