Default How to change fuel filter?

    Hi guys,

I've bought a few parts from http://www.vauxhallworldparts.com/ which by the way, is CHEAP compared to dealers.. (Oil filters etc - 99p)

One of the parts I got was a new fuel filter. I've had the Vectra for 3 years now, and it's not had the fuel filter chnaged since I've had it.

Does anyone know how to change the fuel filter on a 1.8 Petrol?
I've done a bit of research, but most of the websites I find that help are for USA vehicle, and say you've got to remove the fuse for the fuel pressure system before you do it, but the UK websites I go on don't mention this.

I also search this forum for some help, and could find a couple of threads relating to the Diesel engine which suggests you've got to fill up the fuel filter with fuel before you put it on the car, otherwise the air gap will cause problems when the fuel starts pumping again...

I know roughly how to change it, but want to make sure before I do it, because this seems like a part - if you mess up, could cost a lot to fix...

    Thanks
    Dan

I never remove any fuse,e when I change the filter. Did you get any new clips with the filter, as there is a chance you will brake one or both. The filter can be tight in the carrier and the clips can be a bit awkward to get off, gut not too difficult a job. You will lose some petrol as it drains out from the filter.

Definitely make sure you get the new clips with it. If you get up close to it with a lamp you'll see how the clips release. You'll need a set of 45/90 degree circlip type pliers to make the job easier.

As Ed said, I've also never taken out a fuse, can't see why you'd need to. The fuel pump only starts up and pressurises the system when you turn on the ignition.

I didn't think they came with the clips? I'm sure mine didn't when I bought it i.e. weren't in the box and I bought them separately.
