Default Might be returning to the Vectra front....

Well as some of you may know, I sold my Vectra last year and used the money I made as a deposit for an '07 Corsa VXR, this was about June last year, my mate works for Evans Halshaw Vauxhall as a service leader, he managed to twist the business managers arm and get me a good finance rate etc.

7 months later and here I am, unfortunantely I am now in the position where I can no longer justify the finance and indeed insurance payments for the Corsa, it is indeed an awesome car, but putting it in to perspective....

    I'm 24 years old (25 in June)
Paying £215 a month for the finance
Paying £120 a month for insurance (£1034 over 10 months with Elephant FOR A CORSA!!!)

Looking back I should NEVER have sold my Vectra Elite (3.2V6) for starters it wasn't costing me any finance payments as it was paid for and the insurance was only aroun £450 a year! it had all the Corsa's power and more, + I loved the heated seats, countless toys, thumping V6 roar and general big car feeling.

TBH I don't really know what came over me, I had just landed a job that gave me more money than I was earning with the incentive to earn more after 3 months, a year, 2 years etc etc. it also gave me a company transit van which I can use for private mileage if I wish, the Corsa came along and after owning the Vectra for 18 months I decided to have a test drive at my mates dealers, I was hooked, the Corsa was a real hoot, I suppose I thought (even though more expensive) that the insurance was affordable, the fuel cost would be alot lower (which didn't really matter as I now had the van and mileage on the car would be limited)

Anyway, inevitably times have now changed, I have now come to my senses and can think of no other car that I'd be as happy with (value for money wise) as a Vectra C V6
The idea is to save money, I know the Vec will cost me more in fuel (23MPG AVG if I remember rightly ) but will save me a ton in finance (initial figure given to me would be £140 over a 4 year term, £73 a month saving over what I'm paying atm) and insurance (£613 over 10 months but I'm already 7 months into my existing term ).

    The current situation...

I have the Corsa over a 5 year finance term and am gutted to saY I'm not in a position to get a loan to pay the finance off, which leaves me with no other option but to buy a car of lower value through the Evans Halshaw group, I have spoken to my mate from Vauxhall and have told him of my idea, he agrees that it would work to lower both my finance term and payment amount, he also agreed that in theory there should be a few "C V6's gathering dust around dealerships as no-one wants them, I then went on to Evans Halshaws site, but searching with a distance of 350 miles I could find only one, in Wakefield, again, not a problem as me mate can bring it in through the group, but what do you think?

    http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk...leRegLetter=53

A 2003 '53 plate GSi 3.2V6 in blue, 54,250 miles, not 100% sure on service history and number of owners etc. but I'm pretty sure I can find that out, also if anyone is near that dealershiop would they mind popping in and possibly taking a few better pics etc for me that would be greatly appreciated

    What does everyone think?

Parkers reckon it's bang on mate, also I am limited to whatever I can get from Evans Halshaw group

Maybe worth negotiating on price? I've heard many people say recently that it's a buyers market...

Perhaps they'd accept a little less just to shift it on, can't imagine they're "sought after" in this climate, I only want one as I've had the experience with them before and I liked it

I know I sold my Elite with a few "Toys" on for £2,600 last June

I'd had it up for sale for absolutely ages with no joy, plenty of offers of swaps and p/x's etc. so when this guy travelled down from scotland to view I just let it go...

Looks nice mate - although its got facelift sri wheels as opposed to the original gsi 5 spokes, but none the less still a good looking car, just lucky to be in evans halshaw for you!

Price seems ok too, it'll get you out of the corsa anyway

wont you have negative equity on the corsa lad?

i was gona trade mine last sat.
Corsa has 20k miles, fsh, light an sight pack
18s, but still only got offered £8500 for um

just make sure you dont get ******ed on your finance agreement mate
by having eary settlement fees and such.
but good luck, just make sure the maths work out.

totaly weird, i was looking to go back to vectra aswell just last week!

My thought's exactly mate, and I noticed the wheel change too, TBH I think I prefer them to the original GSi ones

Yeah I agree but unfortunately I'm not putting anything into the car, hence me doing it in the 1st place to save money it's all being done on finance, my mate works at the dealership so a warranty shouldn't be too hard to haggle

Lol, so true mate, I've thought and thought about it and for the money couldn't think of anything else I'd rather have

weird about the p/x price too, my 1st idea was to see if they'd buy the corsa back for enough to clear the finance and they offered me £8,500 which would leave me in negative equity but on the computer, the P/X price for the Vectra deal was £8,800 which again I thought strange but they've managed to lose alot of the negative equity by dropping the commision on the finance then they've put a cash incentive in, my Corsa's an '07 with 8,000 miles, arden blue with 18" alloy upgrade.

Nothings final yet, I went into the dealers on saturday and there's certain parts of the deal I'm not happy with, so they're going to try and come up with better, let's see what this week brings I guess...
