What was the thinking behind Vauxhall having their dash lit all the time?
I realise its normal and I have read all the threads using search etc but out of curiosity why is it like it?
It just seems strange and I can't think of the reason
Cheers

How do you mean Dash lit all the time. Mine is only lit when the side/head lights are switched on.
You meen the speedo and rev counter part of the dash?
If so, mine doesn't. It lights up when you unlock the car, but when you start it up the lights go out
mine is lit whenever you are driving, it makes it easier to forget to put your lights on if anything.
Facelift model have the dash lights on as soon as you turn on the ignition, several car makers are doing this now
As Rob says, it is very easy to forget to switch lights on because of it
i have forgotton to switch nime on once because of this. i also wonder why when you switch on you dipped beams another little indicator doesnt come on because it just uses the same symbol for the dipped beam as well as side lights !
mine does this, the dash lights on all the time
i pressume (but im probably not correct) if you go under a bridge or something you can still see your dials
if you have cd70 the screen turns a differnt colour when lights are on
Was a new 'feature' Vx brought in. I can't recall if it was specifically facelift or on full CanBus that it appeared? - anyway, it was that sort of time.
I can see their reasons for doing it - means you can always see your instruments easily - but as said it's going to make it easier to forget to put your lights on as it gets towards dusk.
I drive with my lights on all the time, and as mine doesn't have that feature I can see straight away if my lights aren't on. I think if I had a facelift car I'd want that feature turned off as I'd probably forget on occassions to turn my lights on during the day.
