    Default 1.8 vvt versus 2.2 direct SRi's

Just wondering if there is much difference in performance between the two models? Been looking for a vexccy for a few weeks and there seem to be more 1.8vvt's about.

    Welcome any thoughts.

    Cheers

Yes mate I have driven both and 2.2 Direct hands down 1.8 gets the better on eco side of things but the 2.2 Direct is still very good on petrol

1 Thing I would say I think the 1.8 is alittle more realiable as there is no high pressure fuel pump to go as far as the 1.8 is concerned I think its a good all rounder and it is not slow as some people make out

The 1.8 vvt is 140 bhp I think and I am currently running a 98 SRI 140 so happy with that. I like the 2. 2 and the twin exhaust but seem to be able to get a good deal on a 1.8 vvt compare to a 2.2

    Seen a nice 1.8vvt on 07 plate for £5600 with 28K miles!

Wow nice mate I go for the VVT then mate I think there great cars 140bhp Is enough and it does pull.

The 2.2 Direct on the other hand is alittle more powerful and has more Torque and becuase its Direct injection good on fuel to

Why dont you test drive them both see what you like best then you will know if your missing out on much.

As for me I wanted that extra power and Torque plus the major things for me were the 2 Smokers at the back love them

problem is all car I have seen for sale require a fair bit of travelling. Not really seen a 2.2 for sale, so was getting a little impatient so looked at the vvt.
