    Default ESP on V6 model

Hi, I have a Vectra CDX in Australia. According to Holden, this particular V6 model does not have ESP. I then had a look on the Vauxhall website, and it says that all V6 models have ESP. I'm a bit of a wishful thinker, and i was just wondering if it would be more of a hassle for Opel to make just a small number of Australia-bound V6 vectras that dont have ESP. i.e. would there be a possibility that my CDX actually does in fact have ESP, but they just say it doesn't so as to differentiate it from the more expensive CDXi model?

    cheers

well there's one way to find out, take out the third blanking plug down from the top on the right hand side (the one below the alarm button with the picture of the running man on). If the blue 3pin (or 4pin, I can't remember) plug is there, then it has got ESP/TC. You can then buy the switch that just pushes in to make your ESP switchable. I paid about £8.00 for my switch. Welcome to the site by the way.

OK six pin then. That certainly does mean you have ESP/TC. Nip down to your local VX dealer, well Holden in your case, and order the switch, the Vauxhall Part No. of which is: 13138265. The TC is permanently switched on at the moment. When you get the switch and push it into the hole you can now switch it off and it will remain off and the light on the facia display will come on, until you hit 40mph (60kph) then it will automatically switch itself back on and the light on the facia will go out. Hope this helps mate.

Well, going on the spec in the UK, if you have ESP factory fitted, then you will have a factory fitted switch to turn it off.
If you only have T/C (you will at least have this) then you dont get a switch.
My SRi does not have ESP, so had no switch. But it does have T/C and the blue plug.
I have fitted a switch myself (as has many people with the blue plug) and you can then turn T/C off.

ok, so if there isnt a switch, there isnt ESP. i might just go get the switch now that i managed to get the plug off.

Yep, on the Uk models, no switch = no ESP.
IF you have the blue plug behind the blank with the pins in it then yes fitting a switch lets you turn T/C off, but check first, not all cars have the wiring there.

Can confirm that lazymuhaha's CDX Veccy does NOT have ESP. It has ABS, EBD, EBA, CBC & TC but does not have ESP. There is also no TC (car with skid marks) button on the centre console (next to stereo). In fact the only button on the centre stack is for the hazard light.

Seems a bit weird that it has everything else bar ESP. Maybe ESP ties in all the other bits somehow.

ESP would cost more money. Apart from an upgraded ABS/TC module, it needs a yaw rate sensor and a steering angle sensor.

According to Holden's Vectra brocure, only the CDXi has ESP. The CD and CDX models are available with the V6 but don't get ESP.

A not-so-safe way to test whether you have ESP is to try going around a corner or doing a U-turn too fast... Make sure there's nothing in your way first though...
