    Default Belts

Lack of knowledge on engines so can someone tell me what the following do:

    1. cambelt
    2. timing belt
    3. drive belt

Have a feeling the cambelt and timing belt are the same thing.

Yes, they are the same thing and it connects the crankshaft and camshaft(s) together so that the valves open and close at the correct time (hence timing) in relation to the crank and therefore pistons. The cam runs at half crank speed too.

The drive belt is the auxiliary drive belt, and turns the alternator and A/C pump from the crank pulley

    Appreciate that Ste,
Need to get the cambelt changed shortly and was looking at previous posts and someone mentioned a drivebelt so just confirming.

    Cheers mate
