Default ??cost estimate for suspension works??

    hi guys,

im fairly skint at the mo and was wandering if anyone has any idea on the total cost of the following works:

change all 4 shock absorbers: i already have purchased the shocks, need them fitted.
Replace front spring:need part and labour
Change driverside ball joint (to eliminate play in the wheel)art and labour
change disc brakes and pads: need just labour.

Any rough ideas on how much i need at a non VX average garage??

    Arrow

    i bought

standard rear disc and pads £45
lmf spax spring and shockers £250

paid £150 to have all these items fitted, also a fuel filter and the spanner light rest included in this price.

i cant see the labour being to much more for doing the ball joint as the wheels are already off to do the other work.

ok....i got my car done and i was a bit gutted...i asked the guy to change one front spring...and after phoning Car Spares Ltd myself for a quote on a front spring for a 2.0DTI.. i was quoted £29.99+VAT for the top range ones. I thought the garage would get a trade price so left it to him to buy.

Now the garage actually went and bought some for £40...and whats worse is he bought left and right as he said both were cracked!(so £80 altogther!!!!)....is £40 steep for 1 front 2.DTI spring?

Im gutted cus i f i had known..i would have just brought lowering springs for about £130 from ebay for a set of 4!!!!...thats just £50 more for a lowered car!!!!!!

The original Vx springs are 3 times the price, but as you said it would've been better to buy a set.LMF do a set for £80 delivered and lowers the car 30mm,thing is garage's will always put a mark up on what they pay for parts,so they probably bought the springs for £30 @,glad its all sorted, bet it drives better too.......

i never would have betted on it...but changing shocks and springs makes it feel as though the car is floating along the road. A beauty to drive...not sure about the handling as i dont really race around in it...just wish it was lowered now...never mind.
