Good time to have building works done, as there are a lot of people with little work to do, so you may be able to negotiate a very good price.

What do you need to know?

Check your councils website as normally some good advice on there.

Basically, my garage is about a foot too short to fit my car in, so I am extending it.

The garage is timber built and runs alongside my house and behind the garage is my back garden, so i have the ideal space to extend it back, get my car in and have a little workshop

However, Mr DIY i am certainly not, for example, i wouldn't have a cluse how deep i have to dig up, how much type 1, how much concrete, how i would attach new timber to my existing timber.

Had a quote of 1600 quid delivered and fitted for a 16ft x 10 ft timber garage, but seems silly to have 1 behind another, i just want 1 garage really!!

If it is wooden, then isn't it a 'temporary' structure and therefore needs no real plans etc?

Can you not just get some wood and off you go? Is there already a base to build on?

Not quite as easy as that unfortunately.

Behond where my garage is was a shed, which i knocked down last weekend, so i have to dig up this area as its just dirt, then type 1, then concrete it, i have to move electrics in existing garage, move guttering, then i have to think HOW i attach the new timber to the existing and how i do the roof, oh why does my car have to go in a garage lol !
