    Default Cdr2005

Hi has anybody had any problem with there CDR2005 volume control knob?
If I try to turn the volume up sound goes down and if I try to turn it down it goes up?
Luckily the steering wheel controls work fine.
I think there is no fix for this? Only a new complete unit?

Deffo sounds faulty,Have you tried to take it out at all ?
As the front face just plugs into the unit, might be a bad connection give it a push just in case its come away from the plug if it still doesn't work try ebay for 2nd unit or there's some one on there that fixes them for about £50 but you may pick a unit up cheaper

OK thanks I may try that.
Failing that I've been looking to upgrade to the CCR2006 Unit!
I believe its a straight swap?

ccr2006 are rare mate and when they do come up they sell for loads,it will be a straight swap but it will cost you more than a cdr2005

Yep, it is - you just need to get the cage as well to make it easier to fit.

As bigmac said they're not too common and go for a few quid, but you do get the 4 cd changer as you'll probably know.

    Default Maybe ditch it?

My CCR2006 also suffers from the volume knob thing - but since the steering controls work fine, I have never bothered trying to fix it.
Why not replace with an after-market job like I am in the process of doing.
Replacing with a CCR2006 will give you the 4 disc changer - but it won't do MP3s, will struggle with home recorded discs (and I have tried all brands of blanks!) and not give you any sort of MP3 playing input.
I would offer to sell you mine except that I wouldn't recommend it.
I am saving it for when I sell the car on - then I'll transfer my new Sony (see my thread of earlier today for the deal I found) and put the 2006 back in.

I suffered with skipping etc. when I used cheap CDs as I didn't want to use more expensive ones just in the car. When I then did use the named brands (mainly Verbatim) that I used for computer stuff, I had no more problems.
