    Default Bargain Sony CDX-GT929U!

    Hi guys,
I have been reading through many threads on fitting after-market ICE.
My 52 reg 2.0TDi Elegance has the Phillips CCR2006 installed - the one with the autochanger and cassette.
Like many other reports it has been skipping on nearly all home-pressed CDs and some commercial ones recently too.
Also the lack of MP3 reading ability is a real shortcoming - my previous car (a Mitsubishi much older) had MP3 as standard.

I spent a good couple of hours scouring the interweb and Ebay for a replacement and came up with the Sony CDX-GT929U.
Halfords have it on sale for £179.99 and I notice that many of you seem to source your ICE from there.
I found it through an Ebay "clearance house" - brand new for only £81 and that includes the delivery charge.
Bung CDX-GT929U into Ebay's search box and you will find quite a few - many at £193.99 but one standing at £74.99.
At the time of writing they have 10 left.
It is steering wheel remote compatible, has aux-in for MP3 and a rear USB port which I will extend to the dash somewhere.

If I have driven this right - a picture should follow!
    Cheers all

    STOP PRESS!
My Sony arrived today and it turns out to be a very inferior model and not the one advertised.
Maybe they sent me the wrong one - maybe the listing was wrong (which might explain the bargain!).
Either way, it is going back and I will update you on a) what the company is like in dealing with problems and returns or b) whether they send the right one.
All this before I head to Spain next week.
Administrative hassle this close to not being here I can do without!
    And another for good measure!
    Martin

Did you get from clearancebargains-uk, they are a Argos clearance warehouse, think its based in Corby so think you'll be OK for a refund/replacement. I've bought stuff from the shop & from them on Ebay with no problems in the past

    Default Update

Don't you just love buying stuff online!
I returned the wrong Sony to Clearance Bargains (yes, the Argos clearance house in Corby - through the Ebay store) and I rang just to check that they would send the correct one.
They checked and said they were out of stock - so I confirmed that a refund could be processed once they had received the returned item.
I left the parcel with a friend and went to Spain for a week.
On my return, I set to finding another unit - and bid on, and won a JVC head unit instead.
This arrived on Friday last week - and so did a replacement from Clearance Bargains!
They HAD sent the correct item this time - so I am well pleased with my £75 Sony which retails for £100+ more at Halfords.
But I now have a spare JVC which is going to have to go back on Ebay.
All turned out OK in the end - and Clearance Bargains are not the cowboys I had begun to think they were.
I will load a couple of pics of the installation which includes a custom USB port - all fitted and working within an hour on Saturday morning.
