40 mile range just on electric power.... that'll be useful then... NOT

Uses Petrol to power the electric motor ??? instead of what !!... using Petrol to power the Petrol motor ???

"The Ampera combines an electric motor and a petrol engine, but the front wheels are always powered electrically; the petrol engine only serves to power a generator to create electricity. Using a battery only, the Vauxhall Ampera has a 40-mile range, which extends to 300 miles if you start burning petrol."

I just dont get it ... so you can call a car 'Electric' if you use the petrol engine to power the electric motor which drives the wheels...

    I'm out !!!
