    Default ABS Light on Vec-B

    Guy's,

I knows some of you know your Vec-B's inside out too so here's another one for you.

My ABS light keeps coming on randomly.

When it comes on it stays on for the duration of that journey (usually a short trip). If i turn the engine off and restart-more than likely it will go out and not come back on. Then randomly after a few days or sometime even a couple of weeks, it comes back on.

It came on yesterday on my way home and it hadnt been on for about 2 weeks.

    Totally random.

    Any idea's?

There is plenty of fluid in there, I have also changed the rear brake pads about 2 month's ago and the front one's have more than enough life in them.

All the disc's are good too! Brakes actually work fine aswell.

    Any suggestion's and help welcome!

    Thanks.

    Bye bye Vec B

The K+H ABS pumps in the vec b's are notoriously rubbish... If they don't get used much then the valves seize very easily.

Going on the long list of reliability issues with the pump, I'd say that it's not unlikely to be the problem.

How old is your vec? Can you paperclip test it?

How do you know that the ABS pump is getting used?

Always thought it were just the fuel pumps that were dodgy!!

What about the sensor plug on the wheel hubs. Could one of them be dirty or loose.

Yes there are one on each wheel. If my memory is correct they are at a 90degree angle, on the centre of the rear of the hub.

I don,t know if you can take the sensor off as it seems integral to the hub. You might see more when you get underneath. But to start with you could "unclip" the plug from the sensor, to see if it is clean and dry, or even if it if loose or broken. I suppose one could be faulty. But I don,t know how you could check that other than say Tech 2 it.
