Angry Mini LCD Fault Display is faulty (in RPM gauge)

    Hi all,

Just noticed my 52 plate Vectra C LCD has gone a bit odd. I've uploaded a couple of photos. It is on every fault that it displays (i.e. door, light, service light).

I'm guessing it will need replacing. Wondering if anyone knew how easy it is or if its possible to replace it. If it can be replaced, has anyone got the part no?

If not, if I changed the whole instrument panel (RPM, Speed, fuel, LCD...etc.) I'm guessing it won't effect the car's odometer/mileage readout?

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Rich.

I have tried to replace one of these , its not recommended. You will be far better looking on ebay for a new set of clocks. You should pick them up for about £40.

No , the mileage is recorded in the clocks. I was told that the ecu also holds this info on a full canbus , but have not been able to prove or disprove this yet.

There is a very old thread on here somewhere on this as well, bit they weren't replaced.

The same happenned to me last year, very similar but what I found was after a while the corrupted bit of the display slowly corrected itself until the display was back to how it should be.

Mine's been fine ever since so what caused it and why it would fix

I have a theory that up to when it started to go like yours, I very rarely saw the door open indicator, however when I noticed the problem and as it slowly fixed, for various reasons I was more often dropping people off without swithcing the engine off - maybe some damp had got in and it dried out or something.

If it's only just started happening I'd be inclined to leave it a few weeks and make sure that the door display is triggered frequently and see if it does just correct itself.

Edit: Here is the thread I was thinking about.

It seems to be a sort of bleeding between the layers on the LCD. It is also becoming more common on the Vectra now. It would be nice if they do "self heal" though.
