Hi mate as vectra666 has said egr valve is favourate for this fault , also give your boost sensor a clean , if still no joy check your hoses from your turbo to the manifold via the intercooler for splits/holes , check your vacuum hoses for splits usually around the rubber connectors these are the most common faults which cause the dti to go into limp mode .

    hope this helps regards bob

Spanner light on, max rpm 2500, turn off engine fault clears, take foot off go pedal and sometimes spanner light clears. Car runs for weeks with no problems and then I get the spanner light on a dozen times on a trip.
Is this the same problem EGR valve needs cleaning?

    Thanks in advance

Maybe. maybe not. Check all of the above as they are the usual suspects.

hi all new to this forum,
i've just bought one of these and i traded in a frontera 2.2 dti with the same engine, i had a problem with what i thought was 'limp mode' do you get any smoke from the exhaust when this happens? if you do take the egr valve out and prod around through the hole in the manifold to see if it is gunged up, if it is you will have to take the mainfold off and give a thorough cleaning as there are some butterfly valves inside that will not operate and allow the turbo to work, i did my frontera and the difference was amazing, it will take a couple of hours but i they are clogged up it has to be done and the beauty is there are no gaskets to worry about, hope you get it sorted.
