    Default Cruise control Issue

    Hi all,

I am having some trouble with my Cruise Control on a 54 Vectra CDTI SRI. I have replaced the clutch pedal spring and the indicator stalk (Both brand new parts) but it is still intermittent. This morning driving to work it engaged for 5 mins then just disengaged. When i tried to use it again it kept switching off straight away.

On my way home from work it stayed on for the entire journey.

I have tried pressing the clutch and brake pedals to see if the switches are set too close but you have to depress the pedals to switch it off.

Does anyone have any ideas of what it may be or what i can check? Or where i could take it to be checked / diagnosed?

    Thanks

Best idea it get it fault code read, it will show up if theres a faulty sensor somewhere.

I had the same issue but some contact cleaner sorted the stalk out.

I am getting the same problem on my 05 vectra.

I use cruise control every day on my 25mile m-way journey to work but over the past month it has been not engaging or switching off. It now puts up a real fight to come on.

How do you clean the stalk??

HI, I have a problem with my CC on a Signum. The Cruise engages but then often disengages when accelerating using the button.
The car has been in and apparently needs a new switch.

Not sure if this is the same type of issue yours, but seems a new switch will cure it.

It is more likely dirty connections, replacing the switch will clearly do it, but some electrical switch contact cleaner may do it too, cheaper and quicker than going to the dealer. Just spray it in and switch away . . . . . rapidly for a while.

There is also a switch on the brake pedal - has this been replaced? When driving and CC will not engage, try lifting the brake pedal up with your toes, maybe the pedal is riding just on the switch causing it to cut out/not switch on.

To others with the same problem who are reading - you can also try lifting the clutch pedal, but the OP has aleady had the clutch spring replaced. Also as Ste suggests, cleaning the contacts around the switch may also solve the problem.
