HI GUY'S COULD ANYONE HELP IVE JUST BEEN OUT TO TAKE A FREIND SOMEWHERE AND ON THE WAY BACK HE FOLLOWING THINGS HAPPENED
1 RADIO WENT OFF
2 ABS LIGHT AND TC CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON
3 STEERING SYMBOL WITH A ! LIGHT CAME ON AND STEERING WENT HEAVY
4 FUEL LIGHT CAME ON BUTHAD HALF A TANK IN
5 WIPERS STARTED JUDDERING
WINDOWS DIDN'T WORK MIRRORS AS WELL
FANS,HAZARDS ALL OFF
NOW I PULLED OVER AND TURN ENGINE OFF AND THEN STARTED IT AGAIN BUT IT WAS DEAD LEFT IT 10 MINS AND IT FIRED UP NONE OFF THE ABOVE CAME ON UNTIL I DID HALF A MILE AND IT ALL STARTED AGAIN SO I CAME HOME AND TURNED IT OFF NOW IT WON'T START .PLEASE HELP IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEA'S THX STEALERS WILL MAKE SMALL FORTUNE I BET

alternator and battery?, happened to me in my last veccy. Hope I am wrong though, It cost £740 to fix at the dealers, I got lucky with 90% good will as I got all my work done there, services etc and was only 2 months out of warranty. Good luck

Definately alternator!!

This happened to me two days after Christmas, alternator wasn't charging at a high enough voltage.

No probs once a new one was fitted.

Not sure about that alternator on Ebay though!! The ad says retail of £495 (or something like that) It only cost £290 for the alternator on my 2.2i fitted from main VX dealer!!

Good saving though if that is the genuine retail price!!

Connect jump leads and that should start your car or charge the battery. Once its going get a volt meter and check if its charging. You will have to do a bit of fault finding before you start spending loads of money. You can get your alternator re-conditioned if its found faulty and save a few quid.

thx guy's changed the battery today and found it to start but the same lights came on the dash.oh the battery i took off was well shot no green marker and whte powder on top of the battery so i will check alternator 2mrw will let you guy's know thanks again
