    Default Help cdti 150 won't rev

    Hi after a spirited run today the car lost all power and sounds like a tractor when revved. the car will not go above 2000 rpm and if you rev it with the bonnet up you can see white smoke over towards where the battery is. Is it the turbo that has gone or is it the manifold that has cracked? there is no smoke out the back of the car and there was no large white plumes either at anytime.

    how do i go about sorting this? i take it that it is nothing major then. I've just read through 40 pages of posts but still don't really understand it

    Got the haynes manual here would it be a case of replacing the valve or is it something you can service?

    Took a look at the car today and the following pipe has split




    can some one please tell me what it is? and also would you think it would have caused any other major damage?

    Its the pipe that goes to the manifold and the egr valve any ideas of cost?

    Yep, that's the manifold to EGR pipe. Should be a cheap part and 4 bolts to change it out.

    cheers mate at least now i know i'm looking along the right lines will that going have caused any other problems that you know of?

    Don't run the car until you can get it fixed there are plastic parts (swirl flaps) in the inlet mainifold and you could distort them if the egr is stuck open. With the egr stuck open the engine is continuously recirculating hot exhaust gases into the inlet manifold.
