Default Caught Speeding - Now What?

    Got caught speeding - Boooooooooo!
    35mph in a 30 - harsh!

    £60 fine and 3 points...

    or............

    a £75 course

    now heres my question.........

does the £75 course replace both the fine and the points, or do i have to pay £135 in total??

    cheers

the course is for "driver awareness" or somethin.

now i think if you are offered the course. and "pass" it as such. you don't get the ppoints, think you still have to pay the fine??

    not to sure!
am positive someone on here will deffo be able to give you the correct answer!

    its affordability though mate.

    I can manage £75 but £135 is a lot.

Rubbish, you pay the same fine of £60, take the course or take 3 points. Some police forces do charge a £15 admin on top of the £60 fine but I for sure Leicestershire don't.

I got done for 49mph in a 40mph on December 1st 2008. I was offered the 3 points or £60 fine or the speed awareness course and £60 fine.

I took the course, and I go on it next Wednesday. But you are only aloud 1 course every 3 years.

It's 100% clean licence, you only pay the fine and the course charge.

so i will only have to pay the £60 plus £15 admin charge, which is the £75 on the letter then?

Did you get stopped, or have you received an NIP through the post? I would have thought you will get offered the course for sure, most forces operate a 10% + 2 above before prosecuting. So you will get the course offered, unless you have to declare you have been on one in the past 3 years.
