Default Car feels a bit pants?

My car seems to have lost a bit of power...I can't seem to get it to really go, it dosen't seem to have any torque...I go to overtake and it kind of feels like, do I have to...ARGH!!!

And my clutch is creaking too! ARGH!!!

If its under warranty get it in asap. I'm going to guess at stuck swirl flaps as it seems to give those types of problems
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I've booked it in with the dealer, although they are saying without a fault code/light they will struggle to find a problem! Grrrrr, only had the car 23 days!

If you have a 1.8 it will feel like a slug after the Superb Chris, most popular cause of sluggy acceleration is the MAF, if there are no codes ask the dealer to swap one with another if they have one to eliminate it.

Its the 1.9 CDTI 150bhp...should "feel" quicker than the Superb surely??

Also, with the window down, there is a lot of turbo whistle when accelerating!! A lot!

    Default Possible EGR Valve defect?

It sounds like the classic symptoms of an EGR Valve fault.
I take it if you slip the clutch to get the revs up around 2-2.500rpm then the car accelerates ok and the turbo kicks in as it should?

My SRi CDti 150 has just started doing this as well. It took a week or so for my EMS light to come on, and my local garage said the fault code was for the EGR Valve.

I'm waiting on my replacement valve arriving (£45 incl P&P from ebay) and will change it out myself (Takes about 30 mins).

If you do a search for "EGR" in this forum you'll find all the info you'll require .

I guess you need to wait for the EMS light to come on so you can correctly diagnose the fault code first?

    Good luck,

    Phil

    Thanks for your replies guys,

I thought EGR too after looking at the threads.

I try and overtake between 2.5k and 4k revs, sometimes I get a rocket effect, others it just kind of thinks about it and overtakes leisurely...

I would say 4.0K revs and above is too high for overtaking, you want to be between 2.0K and 2.5, that way you are at the lower end of the torque range and can use it to its full effect

It may seem strange driving at 50mph in 6th gear, only changing down to 5th gear to overtake, but trust the engine and you will see the difference
At a push change down to 4th gear, but there should be no need to go to 3rd gear or lower
