Well, at the Drinky house, preparation for Ellesmere Port's meet started yesterday, with Drinky and Big Phil doing a brilliant job in the local dealers' valeting bay (HUGE thanks again to the Arnold Clark boys for their kind loan of the bay and gear!) and making sure the 'ladies' all looked their best.
Sadly by the time we arrived at Ellesmere Port, the overnight rain and filthy roads meant that they were looking a little sorry for themselves - not helped by the lack of jet wash at our meeting point! However, undeterred and having met up with Andy, Ian C, Pte and Mrs Pte, and new face Rhys, we proceeded in our little convoy to the Vauxhall carpark, where we all set to with polish and tyre dressing to undo the damage done by the journey.
Fortunately, the weather was kind to us, although a little dull, and the end results (below) were excellent, generating a fantastic amount of interest from the general public and other stands alike. Great excitement (and a certain amount of childish screaming and jumping about by one female member of the team!! ) ensued when the Total Vauxhall photographer stopped by and photographed Big Phils' car in some detail, and even returned a little later for some snaps of The Vectaru!
We managed to ensnare Mike Brewer for a quick photo and a chat, and were delighted by his complimentary words about our stand - he even gave us a special mention in his speech during the announcement of the Best in Show!! (sadly not one of our number, but BIG respect to Big Phil who was named Runner Up!) Hopefully this nomination will take the sting out of the regrettable incident involving Phil and the lack of grille to put on the BBQ!!! Never mind Phil, the burger van chips were great!!!!
We were delighted to have to a surprise late visit - Brocks in his brand new pre - facelift! We all enjoyed a brief natter and introduction session, promising future get togethers, including suggestions of a possible seaside meet at Southport or similar, in the summer!!
Although there had been many visitors, including welcome visits from Spoons and Nutty Tart, by two o clock, the numbers had diminished considerably, and the club stands began to pack up, so we said our goodbyes, and made our (tired!!) ways home.
All in all, a great day out, and lovely to see you all - looking forward to the next one!!!!
