    Default Refurbished wheels

Got my Twin Top alloys refurbed at The Wheel Specialist (www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk) in Birmingham last week...

WOW! What a great job they've done. My wheels were starting to look real shabby, corrosion creeping round from behind the spokes, mangled centre caps (tyre fitters probably!) and plenty of curbing courtesy of the previous owner!...

I went for a sport silver finish which is not listed on their web site (they'll do pretty much any finish you can think of!) and they look fab, just like new, infact better cos they're now a custom colour!...

So glad I did this instead of buying snowflakes which will prob go rotten after a few years anyway and need the same treatment. Why do manufacturers put such rubbish paint on wheels?...

Cost of refurb....£287! That's 4 wheels stripped, curbing filled/re-profiled, powder coated, painted then clear powder coat lacquered...not bad me thinks. Also bought 4 new centre caps from VX @ £60...ouch, but worth it!...

While I was at it I had 4 new tyres fitted as my Conti Sports were on their last legs and I didn't want a fitter pulling them off my newly finished rims in a few months time. I did some last minute phoning round for prices and it turned out nobody stocked 225/45/18's, funny size apparently. However the place that did have 'em had a big sale on. Walked out with £700 worth of Dunlop SP9000's (http://www.dunloptyres.co.uk/ourTyre...esults/SP9000/) for £500, nice looking tyre I thought.

So for £847 I've got as new rims with tyres fitted and balanced. Not bad I thought considering the price of the wheels alone from VX and the expensive tyres...

Finally, to top it all off, them new boots have only gone and got rid of all the road noise that made me nearly sell the car a few months back! How chuffed am I!?!?!?!...

So for anyone looking for an alternative to new rims, you might want to try these guys. I'll get some photos up on the weekend so you can see their work. Motor looking mint now, especially with the new Irmy grille and Mtec501's.
