    Default Which Star Silver..?

    Hi all,

Which one of the 3 Star Silvers would you say is the lighter silver of them?

When I had my bumper sprayed it has came out a little darker than the car, and that was Star Silver 3.

I am now thinking of spraying it a lighter silver colour to match the rest of the car. The sprayer suggested blowing in the wings with Star Silver 3 to try and get a match, but i'm not sure if it will be a success.

Do you know of any other silvers which i could use to get a match??

Anybody else succeded doing their bumper??

This is now bugging me, got to do something with it, I have paid so much and just want to get it right!!

    Thanks,
    Roy.

Have a look on your drivers door side of the car (when the doors open) and there should be a plate that tells you the colour code of your car.

It's near the bottom of the plate and I think it's 3-4 digits long IIRC

Its to do with the fact the bumpers are primered in a different colour to the panels, I think.
Long known issue for most facelift cars, and Vx will do sweet FA about it.

silver is a funny colour to spray your mate was right about blending it onto the wings as you will always see a diffrence when spraying edge to edge also bumpers always look a shade diffrent being plastic.on my computer at work star silber 3 has 5 diffrent shades i.e lighter flop or bluer face or yellower face etc.hth

Wonder if my sprayer used another primer on it, it would be better??

Weird thing is, it looks ok from the front, the grille and front of the bumper is the same as the bonnet, its when you look at it from the side, so might be able to do from the corner to the side of the wing again.

it will always look ok from the front because all the furniture ie lights, grill etctakes your eye away from it

when my mate sprayed my spoiler he came out with a book of all the different colours and lined each silver lightning up against the bumper to get a perfect match, or as near dam it anyway! Did he not do that, shouldn't just take the paint code only as there can be so many slight variations!

Not sure if this helps but he got it spot on for my car.
