well guys after selling the vectra i have went and bought a 5 series bm, wasnt gonna spend a fortune but its amazing how much of a bm you get for the money, anyway i took the plundge reluctantly as i have never really bothered with them before , now as much as i loved my vx i gotta say i am amazed how good they are, now this aint no new car its alot older but i opted for a e39 523i a 2.5ltr and again in silver wow is all i can say and is real good on the fuel too but now i am left with the same prob , modding here we go again the wheels lowering i have already upgraded the headlights to clear and omg xenon hids and rear clear so here we go again already looking for 18s or 19s

I expect modding a BMW will cost quite a bit more than the Vec but they are very nice motors and love the Angel Eye headlamps they have

Had the e39 540i (4.4 v8) very powerful and great for long journeys with sports leather and every imagineable electrical extra you could think of. Plagued with problems from the day i bought it though, like bmw quoting me £218 for a new lambda sensor + fitting. Bought a new one from ebay for £28 and fitted in 2 minutes....

Ended up trading it in for a pajero junior for my g/f lol

E39 was the best BMW ever built IMO. Just got rid of my E38 728i Sport with all the goodies on. Nice car but not nice on the pocket in any respect. I have to say that I prefer my Veccie. I drove the BMW like an old man as I couldn't afford to do anything other! Seemed a waste to me.

My Veccie gets the beans now and again and the 6 speed autobox is great now that I am used to it. It might not be of the same build quality, but it's got most of the goodies and is just as nice to drive.

Your car should go for ever if it's a good 'un.

the veccy is alot more nibble suppose its because its a lighter car and the tourque on the diesels is exellent just trying to think of all the other brands it competes with, audi, ford,vw,bm,skoda the list goes on have driven the new passat dont like the stupid handbrake thing does your head in, the ford mondeo is ugly the audi is expensive the skoda regardless still has a slight stigma recon the veccy is the best value for money and one of the best looking in its class the veccy rocks just hope the new insigna is as well recieved

I've come the other way, they are great cars and servicing/repairs ain't so bad if you can find a decent independent BMW garage - never use main dealers.

If you think the VX brand depreciates a lot what about this ,

Boss got a M5 last year for £45000, not even a year since he got it its now worth

    £22000 ,

I think I'll stick with the Griffin
