Default Home made Chrome Indicator Bulb mod. Save £££'s!

I've been meaning to buy a set of chrome indicator bulbs the for the rear because, lets face it, the orange behind the lense looks a bit poo, and it would be a nice touch to not have the orange, as other members on here have done this mod and it looks great.

This is how they did look. A bit naff yes.

So while i was in my garage, it was bright idea time! Money isn't that tight but it's always a bonus if you don't have to buy things.
So, had a rumage through my toolbox and found a can of silver spray paint.

    Out came the bulbs.....

.......and i gave both of them one thin coat of the silver paint.

The paint started to craze a little but this was ok as it would let some of the orange through. But this wasn't a problem once they were fitted as the orange came through the silver no problem.

And this is the bulbs fitted back in.

Well impressed with the results so if you've got a can of silver paint lying round, give this mod a go. Even if you haven't, it still cheaper to buy a tin of paint than to buy a set of bulbs. And also, if they ever blew, you wouldn't have to spend out another wedge on more chrome bulbs; just pick up a set of orange bulbs and paint them!

    Cheers guys.

(Mods, if you want to move this to the 'How To' section, feel free).

Thought about that and indicator bulbs don't, (unless you've got a wiring fault)! and given the short space of time they are on and off, they wont have a chance too.

I have had to change the odd bulb due to not sufficient colour on them or fail?
Do the chrome ones have a coloured plastic for the lens?
