I did mine by hand - long nosed pliers helped and it was a straightforward job.
I can pick one up tonight like but just did not want to spend cash if the need was not really there.
also how far do you wind it back how many turns?
If you see yourself having the car long enough to do more rear pad changes, then I'd say it's worth getting the tool. If you do, make sure you get the right adapter for the brakes on our cars. Places sell the Laser tool but often don't have the correct adapter with the pins the right distance apart.
You wind it in until it stops basically.
one other thing will i have to leave the hand brake off?
once done pump the brake pedal then pull the hand brake?
Not difficult to do with a small G clamp and something to turn the piston. I used a large bolt with 2 pins welded on the head between the G clamp and the piston. G clamp applies pushing force and a spanner of the bolt head turns the piston. Piece of cake, and easy to do both movements on your own as you can feel it.
Move them in all the way until they stop moving in....
I left the handbrake off, changed pads on both sides, and then pressed foot pedal a few times to bring the pads in, and then 'worked' the handbrake a few times.
Nice one see Do you leave the brake fluid top off?
