My personal reccomendation would be th 3.0CDTI(but I am biased) if you are after economy and power the 1.9CDTI 150 has to be the model of choice as it will return around 6-10mpg more than the 3.0litre depending how you drive it even with a tuning box.

You can get an approximate value on your car on the vauxhall website, expect to be offerede bottom book price for part ex, then push for top book price, if they want to make a deal they will pay top book price.

Flog it, get something with a proper engine the 1.8 engine just doesn't do the vectra (especially the SRi) any justice IMHO.

David ,as you know i had the 1.8 b4, as much *** i loved it, it was just too under-powered..If you go for either the 1.9 or 3.0 cdti, you WILL love it..The power is fantastic.
Its up to you mate, but its the best thing i did...

Listen to the boys David, get a diesel, also take off the mods dealers dont see them as enhancements due to the new owner having to declare to the insurance company etc, that way you dont have to get them again for your new car if it's compatible with them anyway, and as said above, do the Vx valuation thing, they will offer you the mid figure but you should get the top one if you negotiate with them, 8k sounds attainable to me btw for an SRi.

    Good Luck.

the lure of the black stuff eh david?? I thought with being a farmer you would be a diesel fanatic to begin with

im happy with the performance of my 1.9 it is certainly a step up in performance from the 1.8 which i had in the astra. IMO you cant beat the performance and the value for money that the 1.9 gives, then if you take into account the tuning boxes...whole different kettle of fish

Its just down to whether you want to pay more initially for the 3.0, at the time i personally couldnt justify the difference and im still happy.....well when its working LOL

Have the 3.0, you wont increase your fuel bill and it looks and sounds better with the twin pipes hanging out the back.

hi steven sorry to say im just a humble tractor driver if i was the farmer id be running about in my 4x4 lol . but with the 1.8 i get a **** mpg short runs to school everyday start stop average mpg at the end of the week is 28 mpg and not enough power either my wife say i need to settle lol just trying to convice mrs b. i wouldnt mind spending all the dosh on petrol if i had a 2.0 turbo at least then i would have a lot more power on tap to play with
