Default ESP simply doesn't work as described in the manual!

The Vauxhall Vectra manual states that ESP 'prevents' wheel spin. It simply doesn't!

I can merrily light the wheels up on wet greasy roads in 1st 2nd and even 3rd sometimes! It is not functioning as described. I feel like taking it to Vauxhall and telling them to make it function as described, or I want a refund!

I dont think you have TC on your car mate. Didn't they disable it on face lifts? Unless you opt for ESP then I dont think its fitted as standard any more?

I paid for ESP plus as it's described I think.

It's a 57 plate CDTi 150 exclusiv. It's got the yellow triangle that lights up, I see that on when the wheels are spinning quite a lot :-)

It just doesn't work and I'm getting a bit miffed about it now.

This is what I understood ESP to do http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electro...bility_control

On my old one, with T/C, it would spin, but if I backed off, then planted my foot again, then it would take that as a sign and throw all the assistance in.

I haven't got the manual with me at the moment but I'm sure ESP Plus incorporates Traction Control, as it's an enhancement of TC.

Thanks Andrew. I've had ESP on a mk5 Golf and I could floor it on ice/snow or once even over a fresh diesel spill on a roundabout and it would just sort it out.

The Vectra just lights its wheels up and pretty much ignores what I'm doing with the steering wheel.

I drive the girlfriends MINI too, again it will cut the power and 'prevent' wheel spin.

    It's driving me mad!

ESP does not stop the wheels spinning , the TC should do that which is incorporated with the ESP+
