Default battery light and a demented dash, any suggestions?

OK, so about a week ago i started the car (2.0DTi) and the battery light on the dash stays on, so i give the go pedal a little blip, battery light goes out but traction control light comes on and stays on....

couple of days after that i start the car battery light stays on for a while it goes out comes on again with the dreaded car and spanner light, they keep flicking on and off each time battery light comes on spanner light accompanies it, then i get the tractions control light come on and the fuel gauge dies.

then today i start the car to come home from work traction control light comes on followed by the battery light it keeps coming on and off and every time the battery light comes on the speedo and rev counter die this continues for the first few minutes of my journey.

any suggestions as to what could be causing this greatfully recieved.

My car is doing the same thing and I think its the cim module as it seems to be a common thing on the forum.

Mine has the same problem. How much to fix and does it have to be a VX dealer?

thanks for the quick respones guys

thought at first my alternator was on the way out, but when the dails started failing aswell i had to resign to the fact it could be the cim, was hoping that it wasnt though.

OH well will check out the auxilary belts first and then take it from there.
any ideas on how many of my hard earned £££'s will i be parting with for a new cim, just the part without labour.

    Thanks again,

    Colin

Are your dash lights dim as well at night?

Try a battery re-charge ovenight before you spend incase it's a not enough juice problem.

That won't explain all his symptoms - a dodgy CIM will though as the others have said.

dash lights arew still good and bright and aslong as my alternator is working ok battery charge should be good as she had a good 60 mile run out on the a3 yesterday. but will get the battery charge checked at the same time as auxilary belts.
