Default Loud bang coming from the rear wheels/suspension

I'm not sure if this has been discussed eleswhere but while driving my SRI I hear a loud bang if it goes over any minor bumps in the road or if I go round a bend.......was gonna get it checked but wondered if anyone else had the same problem.
    Thanks

Yep had a loud bang from the rear o/s tyre. Got it up on a ramp and my rear shock had completely gone.
I wouldn't always get the banging noise, and it sounded different but in the end it was the shock.
Mines a 2.0 DTI Vec C by the way not an SRI

seems like it could be the rear upper/trailing link arm bushes that are caputt! they usually last about 60/80k, but they are not to difficult to replace, the complete arm is replaced, and are available from most motor factors and LMF VAUXHALL, all details about how to identify the knock and replacing the arms can be found on the brilliant `HOW TO` section, they cost approx £35 each, good luck a mornings work will see them done and the ride difference is very noticable.
