knocking noise

i have a knocking noise coming from drivers side front , have been to 2 vauxhall garages, 1 vx, 1 independant, and had my wifes uncle(mechanic) look at it, and no one can find a problem, have taken it for a test drive with all 3, and when we get it on ramp, everything seems ok, and i have been told to let it turn into a problem where it is noticable, with kids always in the car i dont fancy that, so anyone got any ideas? we have checked wheel barings, drop link, shocks and wishbone and all ok, ideas anyone?

Drop links are the favorite, but how and when does it Knock, all the time ,over speed bumps, uneven surface, is it a rumble or a deffinate knock ?

like a clunk on harsh acceleration, and also braking then pulling away, like at roundabouts, drop links are only 10 months old

sounds like a engine mount moving...worth checking them m8 tbh

yeah, had them check, its defo coming from the front bottom of the car, it also hapens when full lock is on

Is it only happening on & off the gas, could be a driveshaft related

Just because the drop links are only 10 months old doesn't necessarily mean they can be ruled out. I have had a Vectra before where one went iffy before the car had 4000 miles on.

Hi,

Just joined the C.com club and pleased to see there is a site specifically for Vectra C owners. Brilliant.

I've just bought a 2005 GSi with 22k and so far very pleased with the car having previously owned a Vectra b 2.2 SRi as a company car and travelled 62000 trouble free miles.

The only issue I have with the new car is this clunk on acceleration which normally occurs after braking. It seems to come from the front passenger side and although it's not too noticeable (It didn't do it on the test drive - typical) I would be interested to know whether this is normal or whether its worth getting it checked out.

I have a 3 month warranty so hope that should cover any issues such as drive shaft etc but can't imagine it is anything too serious with only 22k on the clock and the car drives 100% apart from this.

I am grateful for any thoughts/suggestions : - )
