DVLA - Want rid of Private Plate

After speaking to my mate just he had a plate didnt pay the retention when he sold his car and after a year he lost the rights to the plate

Can't you sell the number plate? I just did a google on "selling number plate" & had a number of options, surely if you can get a few £££ in your pocket it's worth a go

Okay Chaps - just spoke to the DVLA. Apparently if I write to the nearest DVLA office or go in person and explain that I want to give up the rights to the number - it will cost me nothing and they will issue an agre related plate.

Similar scenario if you have the plate taken away from you by the DVLA for misreprisentation etc - without a fine though!

Thanks anyway guys. Car must go quickly so this is the easiest way and as for the plate its not really worth anything unless you own an M6 BMW or your name is M6X !

To be honest, it may be worth sticking an ad on Ebay, one man's rubbish is another man's gold and all that. Even if it just gets you the transfer fee - someone else then wins too.

I certainly wouldn't give it away without at least ringing up one or two of the companies advertising on the net, imagine giving it up to find it was worth £500

I'd target towards MAX instead of BMW M6 , there must bo loads more peeps called Max who'd be interested in a private plate!

i,m guessing the number plate is M6 Xxx the bmw refference being an M6
