    Default Service queries

Hi All, I have a query with regard servicing, I appologise in advance if this has been asked before or is in the wrong place but just spent two hours searching with no results!!

I have a 2003 2.2i with 93,000 on the clock and it's due a service. When I bought the car I also bought a 12 month warranty for which one of the requirements is for the car to have a full service history which it has so far.

The car was in recently to have the alternator replaced, new front springs (os snapped), tie rod ends, anti roll bar bushes, and rear upper arms. When I went to pick up the car I was told that the brake fluid needed changing along with discs and pads and I was quoted £195 for a service.

The discs and pads I can change myself, but the question I want to ask is:

What is usually included in a service, will it include the brake fluid and if not is it easy to change myself? I have heard the dealer has to do it because of something to do with ABS.

Also is it worth paying for a main dealer service or would I get the same from (dare I say it) Kwik fit who quoted £159 for a service (I also get 10% discount for having my insurance with them)?

    Many Thanks in advance

any garage could do the service but i would not go anywhere near kwik fit,try your local dealer as they may have a deal on and you would get genuine parts.as to brake fluid it is not a part of the service

As solo said, brake fluid change is not part of any service as such. it's easy enough to do yourself with an Eezibleed type device and fresh fluid. It's not a dealer job just because of the car having ABS.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated

What was concerning me was that I had heard that they had to activate the ABS using Tech2 or something to bleed it correctly!!

    I probably read it wrong
