Hi All,
I have a company 57reg Vectra 1.9CDTI 120. After 14 months and 19000 (mostly motorway) miles the engine developed a loud rattle which sounded like a loose metal cover.
The next day all turbo boost was lost and the car became almost undriveable. I called the AA who instantly diagnosed a blown turbo just from the noise, but told me it would be OK for me to drive the car to the nearest Vauxhall dealer (about 6 miles).
The car has now been at the dealer for 3 weeks and a replacement turbo has been fitted, however they now tell me that by me driving the car with a blown turbo the engine has also been destroyed (which could be classed as negligence on my part and as such invalidate the warranty).
The car was serviced by a Vauxhall main dealer 4 weeks prior to these problems and when checked by the AA the engine was full of oil.
Is this a common problem with this particular engine?
