    Default fan belt

    hi my fan belt has just snapped is it easy to fit one or would it be easier to take it to the garage

    Fan belt? I thought the fans in these cars were direct driven? Mine certainly are.

    Are you meaning the auxiliary belt that runs around the alternator etc.?

    i have a vectra 2.0 turbo and it is the auxillary belt that has gone

    Right, that makes sense then as the 2.0T definitely has direct driven fans.

    What's caused it to snap then? Very unusual for that to happen on that engine.

    As for fitting it, it's not a huge job - just depends how confident/proficient you are with doing things on the car?

    dont no why the belt snapped just driving home when battery light came on i checked under the bonnet the belt was snapped in half

    That's a fair few miles then. I'd better check what state mine is in as I'm on 71K, although my belt has been replaced in the past when they replaced tensioners etc. when it was making the twittering/squeaky noise.
