Well it works very well on my Advent 4211 Netbook, although it now has 2GB ram it still has only a 1.6GHZ Atom single core processor! Seems to of lost the overhead Vista has!

I think Vista is another 'Windows ME' for Microsoft!

Windows 7 has nice features and lets not forget the beta isn't the finished product. Windows 7 runs as well on my Netbook as XP and OSX! and quicker than Vista!

Personally I think Microsoft have finally got their act together!

Launching 2 million Beta licences is an inspired decision and shows their confidence in the product!

I have a driver issue with it not having the Intel ICH8M-E LPC Interface Controller in Windows 7.

Cant find the driver on the Intel site and believe its because the driver has been superceded by something else but doesn't tell me what. found the driver off another site but it won't install it as it says it doesn't recognise the operating system!

I'd download it off the Sony website (I have a Vaio NR21) but it generalizes the drivers and i don't know what this driver is actually part of or for.

Other than that, it runs great, boots quick and just feels altogether lighter and more intuitive than Vista.

I like the fact that they even provide a link to Internet security companies such as the dreaded Norton, the ok AVG and the great Kaspersky who are providing free beta IS packages to try with it

It's about 2.4Gb in size for the 32bit and 3.2Gb for the 64 bit, so depends on what your broadband speed is.

    Very quickly.

Downloaded the beta (which took the longest time to do. Don't know how long as i just left the download running and went to bed)

Used active ISO burner to drop the image onto a dvd.

Decided on a fresh install (but you can just start up your machine, insert the disc once windows has loaded and then ask it to update from Vista/XP instead) so set the laptop to boot from CD first.

Install took 15 minutes at most

I did look at it a couple of nights ago but shied away when I got to it talking about all the things you need to do. Perhaps I’ll try again, my BB connection says 3.62Mbps download @ 463.15KB/sec is that ok? I have a spare HD XP pro installed (in case of emergency) so what do you think? Cheers

Try your motherboard makers site, Gigabyte site has downloads for it if you have one.
