ive had the car for less than 2 weeks, before that it was stood for 3 months ive done nearly 1k, so its a case of doing wot you did, and not worn brakes ?

Would 100% check the rears. We went through 2 sets of rears to one set of fronts, most strange imo

The Vectra C is well known for burning through rear brake pads
I suspect this is due to the common brake / handbrake design, and is a common issue on other cars with this design
The Vectra B was also well known for burning through the rear brake pads, but that design had separate handbrake shoes and they would last three times as long as the pads
Typical life for rear brake pads is about 2 years or 30K miles

It can be a common occurrence, the rears grinding a bit when at slow speeds. Mine did it when I hadn't had it very long, but after a bit of a clean up of the calipers and changing the pads it's never done it since - and that's after subsequent pad changes.

I find my brakes give off a very light grinding noise when I move off when the car has not been used the day before
After a few brake applications it is soon gone

My 2.2 auto Elite is currently on 36K. Still has some meat left on the rear pads when I last looked through the wheel spokes (approx 2 weeks ago). Being an auto I'm probably using the brakes more than someone with a manual box.
