Does the Z22Se have a cambelt or a cam chain? Im sure its the latter. I read on my service report that multivalve vehicles should have their cambelt changed at 40K...... does this also include camchains?

2.2 is a cam chain. not sure about the change though
There is NO Vauxhall recommended interval for changing the timing chain on the Z22SE. Hard to believe I know, but that is from my dealers workshop foreman.
As Graeme, I believe the Z22SE is a cam chain. Isn't this the engine that had a 'problem' with cam chains? Problem in the sense that a lot of owners were having them snap but Vx never acknowledged it as a problem as such. Something to do with the nozzle (or similar) that fed lubricating oil onto the chain getting blocked, therefore no lubrication and eventually snapped chain.
If your service manual doesn't specify any schedule for the cam chain (I would have thought it did?) I would at the very least make sure the lubricant nozzle thingy gets cleaned.

it is the Z22se with the nozzle problem, your right duncan. But when you read the field remedy it only lists astras and vectra B's with the problem. The fix was a larger nozzle so maybe they fitted these to the C's engines at the factory end?
Ah yes, I think you're right there. It was the B that was affected, not the C wasn't it.Originally Posted by Andy
Back to your original question... there's nothing in your service manual that lists anything about cam chain? Gary's answer sounds kinda familiar. I have a feeling that Vx think the cam chain will last the life of the engine, hence no schedule for it. You only know it needs replaced when it snaps!! - which of course it 'shouldn't'!!
