you could also try fitting the shorter vxr/gsi intake pipe, seem to help with my 2.2 along with the airbox mod'

Got a one year old Vectra 1.8 VVT Friday and was immediately very disappointed with the huge flat spot going from first to second and the general feeling of it not running as smoothly as it could.

So pi**ed off got up 4 o'clock this morning to search the net and found this thread and by 5 o'clock the airbox mod had been done and a filter on order off eBay.

Since then have done a 300 mile trip today, just with the airbox mod and what a difference!! Not absolutely perfect but getting close. Perhaps the K & N filter will do that.

    Thanks to all.
I have the 1.8 and feel it is dead between 1st and second, which air filter do i need and can i remove some part of the air filter mine is the vvti i think.

    Cheers Andy

you can take out the plastic trim in the sir box.. And if you want, you can replace with a k&n panel filter!

just been out and done this now, took 5 minutes, literally.

I think the 'placebo' effect takes place, but i think theres a slight difference in pick up.

How does a filter stand on insurance, is it a mod or just a like for like part replacement? Is there anychance they wouldn't payout if something happened?
