    Front Splitter Arrived Yesterday.

it said that its primed, but its been primed black.

does priming need to be a white/grey colour.

or can i start builing up layers of colour onn the black primer.

I've got a can of primer from Halfords that's specifically for plastics, and it's clear, so no - primer doesn't have to be grey. If it definately is indeed primed, then you can start applying topcoat as long as the surface is smooth enough already.

Also the other thing you will need to know to get an oe paint look is how many layers of primer, paint and clear are used

VX use white primer from the factory, although i'm not to sure about stuff like pre primed splitters, spoilers & VXR zorst surrounds.

My splitter came in grey primer but I rubbed it down and put 4 coats of grey primer on it then let it dry for 24 hours and rubbed it down with 1200
paper and put 4 good coats of Saphire black on and let that dry for 24 hours teh rubbed down with fine wire wool as I only needed a key for the top coat and then 4 cotas of clear laquer and let it dry for 3 days.
Today I polished it up with rubbing compound and it has come up a treat, really pleased with the results. This weekend it will be fitted
