Default 19 Inch Wheels - Judder?

Just had wheels balanced by Vx today and above 60 there is a noticeable wobble.

Is this normal on FWD 19" cars or not?

Shouldn't be normal. The C's wheels seem to be a bit 'tricky' to balance. Had some wobble on mine (17's BTW) after having tyres fitted and balanced.

Somebody more experienced redid them and the problem was that they had put too much weight on - didn't need so much. After that they were fine. Not the first time I've had to go back after having tyres fitted, second time usually sorts it out!

Most aftermarket wheels of 19" are cast, Vauxhall's are forged and are stonger so should withstand more punishment.

Yours could be a little out of round, but I would say more than likely they have not balanced them very well. But when I had 19's it was as steady as a rock.

I learned something a little while back about wheel wobble....

I went to a cheap place (trying to save money) and I got wheel wobble after new tyres being fitted. I went back, and back again, and the guy couldnt stop the wobbling no matter how much time he spent.

I decided to take it somewhere else and they stopped the wobble first time.

When I asked why, he told me that the balancing machines need to be calibrated regularly so that they are perfect. Some tyre fitting places dont calibrate them regularly as it costs money, so no matter how much they try, it will never get a perfect unwobbly wheel.

    So there you go....

I know there are probably a few out there that wont agree...but my local Kwik Fit garage has always been freeking excellent for anything wheels and tyres related. They always have some leeway as far as prices go and often don't even charge for some little things. Free puncture repairs for the life of any tyre i've bought from them, never charge me for valves and balancing. I even took a rented minibus (full of ladies of to france for a hen party) there once to sort a flat out, fixed the puncture, found a dodgy valve on another wheel and sorted pressures out - no charge.

So, IMHO you can't get better than a Kwik Fit Fitter! Take it to your local and ask them to take a look.
