    confused faulty temp gauge ?

for some reason the engine temp gauge seems to be acting odd since the ecu failed last year,it can take upto 30 miles for the temp gauge to move and then sometimes it goes up to 90'c within 10 minutes, then sometimes it will drop back to 70'c or even 'cold'any idea what this could be ?

Well I would suspect two things, the thermostat or the temp sender

If it was/is a problem before the warranty ran out and you had been in and out with the fault then they should treat it as an ongoing case. If not then replace them yourself. Easy to do and not that expensive.

    Default temp

If you car is a diesel in this weather . Thats normal. I have an omega 2.2 dti and a vectra 30 cdti and they are both the same. if it petrol then yes it may be the therm.

Our 2.2DTi takes ages to warm up now. It's almost certainly a faulty thermostate, because my old Veccy B 2.2DTi warmed up after about 10miles. Tepmeratures below 5°C. My 3.0 is just fine for now
